codes and conventions: 'halloween' by John carpenter

In todays lesson we analysed the opening of a horror.
C.A.M.P.
  • Insert o knife in draw and mask on the floor
  • High angle shot when micheal is seen by parents at the end of the opening scene
  • point of view shot throughout the scene, showing micheal going to kill his sister.
  • zoon out at the end of the scene to show that the scne has finished
EDITING
  • when micheal put on his mask the view of the screen changes to the shape of the mask (two eye sockets).


SOUND
  • scary tensioned music to start the film off
  • continuos music throughout the stage of micheal killing his sister.
  • of life night creatures ie: owls,insects etc
  • when light switches off music kicks in loud and scretching. then a four beat hits in slows down and sppeds up maybe to show the pase of micheals heart beat.
MIS-EN-SCENE
  • lightened pumpkin at the start to show the halloween theme.
  • scary white house and dark scenery,bushes etc.
  • naked sister t show she just had sex.
  • micheal has a clown cstume on shows its trick or treat.
  • messy bed and dressing table shows its a girls room and that its set in a house and bed room
